Overview:
Under the Students-Undergraduate Research Graduate Excellence (SURGE) program, students from IITK and other participating institutions undertake short-duration, but focused research projects and push their intellectual abilities beyond those driven by the classroom.
Duration:
The duration of the SURGE program is approximately 8 weeks which is tentatively scheduled to be held from 11th May 2023 till 13th July 2023
Stipend:
The selected candidates receive a scholarship of Rs. 12,500/- (travel expenses up to Rs. 10,000/- or as per actual and administrative charges reimbursed).
Qualifications:
The eligibility criteria for SARC countries students at the time of starting of internship to apply for a summer internship at IIT Kanpur are mentioned below:
(i) B.Tech/BE/B-Arch/BS (3rd year completed),
(ii) Five-year degree program (3rd year completed, 4th year completed)
(iii) B.Sc/B.A. (2nd year completed)
The eligibility criteria for Non-IITK students at the time of starting of internship are mentioned below:
(i) B.Tech/BE/B-Arch/BS (3rd year completed),
(ii) Five-year degree program (3rd year completed, 4th year completed)
(iii) B.Sc/B.A. (2nd year completed)
(iv) M.Sc. 2-Year (1st year completed)
The eligibility criteria for IITK students at the time of starting of internship are:
(i) B.Tech/BS (2nd,3rd year completed),
(ii) Dual Degree (2nd, 3rd, 4th year),
(iii) M.Sc. 2-Year (1st year)
Fees:
Registration Fee (applicable to NON-IITK participants): NON-IITK participants are required to pay a registration fee of Rs. 500/- (Non-refundable) through State Bank Collect Payment Gateway, the details of which will be available from January 19, 2023 (tentatively).
Administrative Charges: The shortlisted SURGE-2023 participants are required to pay the SURGE administrative charges of Rs. 2500/- for IITK participants and Rs. 3500/- for NON-IITK participants. The SURGE administrative charges are not refundable.
