Overview
Amgen's Technology, AI & Data team is hiring undergrad Machine Learning Engineer interns for Summer 2027 — remote across the United States. You'll help design and test scalable data pipelines into enterprise lakes/warehouses, support model training and deployment, and dig into pharmaceutical commercial datasets.
It's a practical MLOps-flavored internship: clean data with engineers and scientists, experiment with tools, and ship visualizations for stakeholders. Pay is $28.87/hour. Applications are rolling until the cohort is filled.
What You Will Do
- Assist with scalable data pipelines for ingestion and transformation into lakes/warehouses
- Clean, prepare, and analyze structured and unstructured data with data engineers and scientists
- Support model training, evaluation, and deployment automation
- Explore pharmaceutical commercial datasets; help build visualizations and dashboards
- Apply stats techniques (hypothesis testing, regression, classification); help monitor ML in production
- Document processes; experiment with MLOps tooling; join agile ceremonies
Eligibility / Key Requirements
- 18+ and currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor's program (3.0+ GPA or equivalent)
- Completed at least one year of study before the internship starts; continue enrollment after
- Located in the United States for the duration of the program; available full-time
- Able to accept/commit to future full-time employment by July 2028 if offered
- Authorized to work in the U.S. for the program duration (future FTE sponsorship not guaranteed)
Preferred:
- Concentration in IT, CS (CS/CPE/SE), Engineering, Business, or related
- Foundational Python or R (pandas/NumPy, matplotlib/seaborn, scikit-learn/XGBoost)
- Basic SQL; exposure to AWS/GCP/Azure; Git familiarity
- Interest in NLP, time-series, or statistical modeling
- Awareness of Databricks, Spark, or Airflow a plus
