Overview
Figma’s security team is hiring a PhD intern to take one project that makes the product, platform, or infrastructure harder to break. The work is operational as well as research: code and design reviews, vulnerability mitigations, and help during incidents.
You sit in San Francisco or New York for a 12- or 16-week block that starts in May or June 2027. The posting wants someone already deep in a security PhD who can write code and compare trade-offs, not a first-year rotation.
Eligibility / Key Requirements
- Currently a 4th- or 5th-year PhD student in Computer Science with a focus in security or a related field
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language
- A record of applying security techniques in academia or industry, in an area such as AI safety, usable security, anti-abuse, anti-fraud, or detection and response
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods or experimental design
