NIT Kurukshetra | One Day National CNF on Bhagavad Gita: Explorations into World Literature (NCEWL-2023) (Hybrid Mode), Apply by 07 August,2023.

Overview:

NIT Kurukshetra is organizing a One Day National Conference on Bhagavad Gita: Explorations into World Literature (NCEWL-2023) (Hybrid Mode).

The Bhagavad Gita is the most systematic statement of spiritual evolution of endowing value to mankind. It is one of the clearest and most comprehensive summaries of perennial philosophy ever revealed; hence its enduring value is subject not only to India but to all of humanity.

In the present when the world is suffering due to value systems devoid of ethical principles—Bhagavad Gita continues to offer timeless lessons and insights to understand the complexities of the postmodern world. Composed two millennia ago, the epic poem has transcended the realms of Hinduism reaching out to diverse populations, communities, and cultures to initiate a dialogue advocating inner peace and harmony when humanity is largely suffering from an existential crisis. The publication of a translation of Gita by Charles Wilkins (1750-1836) under the auspices of the Asiatic Society introduced the Western world to the timeless Indian philosophy which took the world by storm. Even imperialists like Warren Hastings could not resist praising the text for its uniqueness and promises that the teachings hold in the attainment of peace and bliss and said that the writers of the Indian philosophies will survive when the British dominion in India shall long have ceased to exist. Readers across the world have looked into the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to find solace from materialism, spiritual crisis, and disharmony. World Literature too has shown considerable impact of the philosophy inscribed in the holy text. Noted poet W.B. Yeats’ poetic compositions showcase his esoteric experimentation with philosophy. Similarly, both Indian Writings and World literature highlight the considerable impact of the Bhagavad Gita.
