Overview

The Trade Desk runs the world’s leading independent platform for digital advertising across the open internet — streaming TV, podcasts, mobile, news, and more. The platform handles over 11 million requests per second, more queries than Google searches, tweets, and snaps combined.

As a Sydney intern you’ll own and ship a meaningful project end-to-end with 1:1 mentorship from an experienced engineer, collaborating with a globally distributed team across distributed systems, petabyte-scale data processing, ML/AI, and UI/UX.

Key Requirements

  • Eligibility: AU/NZ citizen, Australian PR, or full working rights with documentation; enrolled in Bachelor’s/Master’s in CS, Software Engineering, or similar at an Australian or NZ university; graduation between May 2027 and March 2028.
  • Availability: 12-week internship at the Sydney office, Australia Summer 2026 (tentative start 30 Nov 2026); available for full-time return offer if extended.
  • Skills: Fluent in one or more modern languages (JavaScript, Python, Java, PHP, C/C++, SQL); solid data structures and algorithms; software project experience.
  • Mindset: Self-directed learner with ownership over design/plan/implementation; effective communicator on agile teams across time zones; values and fosters diversity.
