Overview
MediaTek — maker of the 5G SoC chips powering smartphones, tablets, voice assistants, and IoT devices — is hiring a Software Development & AI Intern for 2026 at its Cambourne R&D Center near Cambridge.
You'll join a team building systems, tools, and software that intelligently validate embedded software for MediaTek chips globally. Work spans Python, C++, and C# on Linux/Windows servers and lab PCs — adding new features and AI to improve capability, performance, and UX. Systems are used by thousands of developers worldwide, with collaboration across UK, Finland, India, Taiwan, and China.
Key Requirements
- Education: On track for Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related discipline.
- Programming: Experience in at least one OOP language — Java, C++, C#, or Python.
- Duration: 9–12 months full-time paid placement; flexible 2026 start date.
- Work scope: Add features and AI to chip validation systems; databases storing TB of data; web dashboards; global hardware resource management.
- Mindset: Passionate about software; strong problem solver; motivated to learn ML/AI and new engineering approaches.
