Overview
Amazon’s Canada SDE internship puts students on real customer-facing and infrastructure work — scalable services, cloud-native systems, and products that ship on week-scale cycles. Interns own code from design through deployment and operations, paired with a manager and mentor, while collaborating across disciplines.
You can highlight interests such as machine learning, distributed systems, databases, networking, mobile, embedded, quantum, or game development; team placement still follows business needs. Roles are in-person, full-time (~40 hrs/week), and applicants are considered across Amazon’s Canadian intern host cities.
Eligibility / Key Requirements
- 18+ and enrolled in a Bachelor’s or higher in CS, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM
- Expected degree conferral between October 2027 and September 2029
- At least one quarter/semester/trimester remaining after the internship ends
- Experience with at least one language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript
- Data structures, basic algorithms, and/or OOP design experience
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (academic or professional)
- Able to work full-time (~40 hrs/week) for up to a 12-week internship with no class/employment conflicts during the workday
Preferred: prior tech internship or strong projects; AWS/cloud, SQL/NoSQL, open source, version control; SDLC familiarity; strong problem decomposition and ownership.
