Overview
Ciena’s 6500 system is the flagship of its packet-optical portfolio: optical transport plus hybrid Layer 0/1/2 switching. This new grad writes C and C++ for device software on a real-time OS, covering development, test, debug, documentation, and defect backlog work through to customer delivery.
You work with engineers, architects, and verification teams on large software releases.
Eligibility / Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Previous internship, co-op, or applied project experience
- Embedded C and C++ plus fundamentals of structured programming and design
- Interest in software development and willingness to learn
- Nice to have: real-time OS, embedded Linux or VxWorks, Ethernet, TCP/IP, or routing protocols
