Operations Engineer - Analytics SaaS Applications
Responsibilities:
- Work on DevOps toolchain (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Gitlab, Git, Chef, OEM).
- Familiar with ELK (Elasticsearch Stack: Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana). Building observability dashboards for complex solutions. Designs, implements, and configures Kibana visualizations.
- Configures Logstash, FileBeats, MetricsBeats, and possibly other ELK Stack components to collect and then store the data.
- Build, release, configuration, and operations management. Automate deployment processes.
- Contribute to the configuration, installation, and documentation of client solutions.
- System troubleshooting and problem-solving across platform and application domains.
- Suggesting architecture improvements, recommending process improvements.
- Identify potential issues preventing the successful delivery of services or solutions.
- Establish Proof of Concepts to validate the client solutions.
- Handle customer escalations and provide Tier-1/2 support.
- Manage/implement highly available and scalable services.
- Collaborate with other operational teams during service on-boarding, capacity expansion, as well as ensure adherence to production deployment standards.
- Own deployment, delivery, and support of escalated issues.
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience with container orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes and build tools such as Git, Gradle, Jenkins, and other CI/CD tools.
- Minimum 2+ years of Development experience with programming languages and frameworks such as Java, Python, Shell.
- Experience in open-source operations, logging, monitoring, configuration of Beats including FileBeats, MetricBeats, and others strongly desired.
- Proficient with Grok strongly desired.
- Working knowledge of Prometheus with visualization tools such as Grafana.
- Strong Linux OS background with exposure to HA techniques.
- Strong debugging skills from client-side to server-side to back-end.
- Prior experience as a Cloud Operations Engineer, DevOps Engineer.
- Basic understanding of configuration and release management tools.
- Experience in the deployment and support of infrastructure and applications.
- Basic understanding of security, monitoring, performance tuning, and reporting.
- Ability to solve operational problems, with the ability to identify and automate common routines.
- Object-Oriented Design skills and understanding of design patterns.
- Experience with test-driven development.
- Knowledge of SQL and understanding of relational databases.
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI), Test Strategies, Git, Jenkins, Gradle, Docker.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and principles.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in developing SaaS and PaaS and a good understanding of Cloud principles.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in Kubernetes, a log analytics platform using Elastic Stack (ELK).
- Optimize and tune the ELK environment to meet the performance requirements.
- Experience in Unix scripting, SQL, and familiarity with Java a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills coupled with a strong work ethic.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure preferred.
- Hands-on experience in Cloud Networking, encryption, and VPN/Subnet configuration.
- Exposure to web server concepts and technologies like Apache Web Server, Tomcat and WebLogic application server, and LAMP stack.
- Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
