Formulating research proposals requires skills and techniques that enable researchers to achieve their research objectives.
Who can apply?
BA, MA, MPHIL, Ph.D. Diploma students in Sociology/Anthropology/His tory/Development Studies/Geography/Political Science OR in a MA/MSc/MPhil program (preferably with Sociology/Anthropology/History/Development Studies/Geography/Political Science Hons).
Course contents :
- Introduction to research methods: Types, steps, designing a research question, choosing a research topic
- Techniques of data collection: Determining the right research techniques, and types of sampling, choosing the technique relevant to the topic
- Why conduct field research: Field Research and steps involved, observation and collecting data in the field, preparing a research proposal
- Analysis of data: Developing codes and concepts, Content Analysis, Quantitative data analysis, Survey Research, Conceptualization, and measurement techniques, Challenges in interpreting the results
- Ethics of research: Data Sharing, research funding, and publication Group discussion on research methods Presentation by the participants on the research proposals developed
