Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is inviting candidates for the Short-term self- sponsored course on Qualitative research methods in social sciences.
The course would help academicians as well as students to learn to research on communities and human societies much more effectively and would also help them in developing skills of research as a method and a practice.
Eligibility:
BA, MA, MPHIL, Ph.D. Diploma students in Sociology/Anthropology/History/Development Studies/Geography/Political Science OR in a MA/MSc/MPhil program (preferable with Sociology/Anthropology/History/Development Studies/Geography/Political Science Hons).
Course contents :
- Introduction to qualitative research: Basic Ideas and Concepts
- Critical Reading: interpreting socially significant events
- Developing Research Plan
- Operationalization of field research
- Practicing field -research through methods
- Urban ethnography
- Reporting fieldwork as academic outputs (journals/manuscripts)
- Case studies and practical sessions
