IIT Madras | FREE Course on "Dynamics of Ocean Structures"
Overview
- IIT Madras has announced the online course on Dynamics of Ocean Structures on the SWAYAM Portal.
- This is a 12 week-long course and will start from the 26th July 2021.
- This is a Postgraduate course, completely free, but you need to pay the desire fee (1000apx) for the certificate.
- This is an AICTE approved FDP course.
Objective:
- The course will give a brief overview of different types of ocean structures deployed in the sea to exploit oil, gas, and minerals.
- While fundamentals of structural dynamics are discussed, detailed mathematical modeling of ocean structures and their dynamic analysis under waves, wind, and current are highlighted, emphasizing fluid-structure interaction.
- Introduction to stochastic dynamics of ocean structures is also discussed with a lot of tutorials and sample papers that shall intuit self-learning through the course.

Course Certificate:
- The course is free to enroll in and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centers.
- The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
- Date and Time of Exams: 24 October 2021 Morning session 9 am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2 pm to 5 pm.
Criteria to get Certificate:
- Average assignment score = 25% of the average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.
- Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100
- Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score.
