Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, NIT Jalandhar is inviting applications for the post of JRF in a DST-IC-IMPACTS-funded Research Project. Interested ones can apply.
Title of the project:
Phosphorus recovery from wastewater for safeguarding global phosphorus sustainability and food security: Denitrifying phosphorus accumulating organisms (DPAOs) have merits.
Duration of the project:
2 years (till 20th November 2025)
Initial appointment (ON PURELY TEMPORARY BASIS) is for one year, which is extendable up to two years or project durations whichever is earlier based on the performance.

Fellowship amount:
Rs. 37,000/- + HRA as per institute/project norms.
Eligibility requirements:
GATE-qualified candidates with M.Tech in Biotechnology or equivalent in Bioprocess Engineering/ Biochemical Engineering/ Environmental Engineering or related branch with B.Tech/B.E. in Biotechnology or allied areas.
The GATE qualification can be relaxed for experienced and exceptional candidates
Desirable Knowledge:
Bioreactor Design, Bioprocess Development, Environmental Microbiology, Kinetic and Statistical Modeling, Biological Nutrient Removal and Recovery.
Age Limit:
Preferably below 32 years, age relaxation may be given to experienced, and exceptional PhD candidates
Job Profile:
In this project, the selected candidate will be working on:

Isolation, characterization, and enrichments of the denitrifying phosphate accumulating organisms (DPAOs)

Isolation, characterization, and enrichment of the DPAOs
-
Design and development of single unit bioreactors (SUBs) for DPAOs culturing
-
Techno-economic assessment and field-scale study of SUBs
Guidelines:

The appointment of the JRF will be purely temporary/ ad-hoc /contractual basis and valid for the above period mentioned above or until the services are required by the Project PI, whichever is earlier.

The services of the JRF will be liable to termination at any time without any notice and without assigning any reason.

The appointment shall be specifically for the aforesaid project and staff member will not have any claim / right on any post in the Institute.

Only short-listed candidates will be communicated to appear in the interview and no other communications in this regard will be entertained.

Mere possession of minimum qualification does not guarantee an invitation to the interview. Candidates will be short-listed based on their merit and as per the requirements of the project.
