PANDEMIC AND STUDENTS PANIC: A Blog
It started when students were asked to vacate hostels and not come until it is told by the university officials. Some were happy about the holidays whereas some just took essential books for 15 days to study at home. The lockdown was then extended for a few more days and at a time opening of Educational institutions were out of the context. In between that period, universities tried to teach students online. Professors using classical chalk and duster instead of smart boards and projectors were now forced to use technology. With limited knowledge and idea about technical things teachers started teaching online. On the other hand, students having no study materials and poor internet connections started attending classes for the sake of 75% attendance. While the learning experience was ruined by the technology barrier. Things were ok and as usual but students were very much sad when they heard that their universities decided to conduct an exam. I personally asked some of my friends from various universities and their opinions are as follows
Student-1
My college is among them where the teachers used WhatsApp as a medium to share pdf and sometimes sent voice notes which read whatever was written in the pdf. Neither the teachers made me comfortable to ask my doubts nor I was able to express my doubts so clearly to them through a phone call. They just gave assignments which I never knew was correct or faulty because they never checked and showed my mistakes on them. Even the classes were not regular, I remember doing a class on Sunday.
Student-2
I totally boycott the ideology of promoting of students on the basis of results made earlier. There should be alternatives to test students. This is because if students know about the cancellation of the exam they will be lazy and will not read for sure, even if I hear it from my university I will sleep for sure.so The universities may test students by modifying the full syllabus to partial syllabus and make it convenient for the students. Also, I face network connectivity so I think teachers should provide self-study materials with assessments instead of copying it down from books so that students will feel like a teacher is teaching them.
Student-3
Online classes are just a myth. Just join the meeting without switching on the camera and also mute the system. Yes mute the system, and enjoy your own vibes. No doubts are found because doubts will be there when you will study so basically it just we are just doing a formality by joining the online class. Hereafter comes exams. Which is the most dangerous thing? If it is taken honestly a very few will only pass. So the exam should not be taken. Well I am among one of the students from the college where the exams are cancelled and of course because of no exam it will put us in great problems
